Dr Podgaetz has a professional goal to identify the best treatments for his patients - tailoring therapy by considering not only the disease, but also the personal situation of each patient and family. Dr Podgaetz completed medical school at La Salle University School of Medicine in Mexico City. He moved to the United States to complete his internship in general surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. From there he continued his training at Mayo Clinic and George Washing University in Washington D.C. It was there he found interest in thoracic oncology, treating pulmonary, esophageal and mediastinal tumors leading him to complete a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.
