Dr J Christian Brown grew up in Denison, Texas, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame College of Science with a degree in biological chemistry. Influenced by a sibling with a debilitating neurological disease, he pursued his medical degree at Brown University's Alpert Medical School in Providence, Rhode Island. His dedication to advancing the surgical sciences was recognized by his faculty on multiple occasions throughout his training at the University of Florida, where he was presented with two Academic Achievement Awards, Outstanding Surgical Teaching Award, and a 50,000 two-year research grant for his work on adipose stem cells.
