Dr. Alfredo Carbonell is Vice Chairman of Academic Affairs for the Department of Surgery at Prisma Health-Upstate and a Professor of Surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine – Greenville. He is also the Fellowship Director for the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship and co-director of the Hernia Center. Dr. Carbonell is a native of Miami, Florida, and attended the University of Virginia where he obtained a B.A. in Biology. He received his D.O. medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed a surgical internship and residency at POH Medical Center / MSU-COM Statewide Campus System in Pontiac, Michigan.
