Dr O'Herron first practiced as a community general surgeon in McMinnville prior to joining the trauma and acute care surgery service at Salem Hospital. He is interested in how large trends affect public health, particularly the health threats related to global climate change, nuclear proliferation and environmental degradation. He is the board president of Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility.
