"I originally wanted to be a family physician just like my father," said Dr. Jeannie Chun. "However, in college I discovered an affinity for counseling and teaching teens. I entered medical school intending to become a pediatrician, but fell in love with the operating room during my first clinical rotation. As a surgery resident, I was attracted to oncology and pediatrics. Both specialities are technically demanding, which I enjoy. I chose pediatrics because I find joy in seeing babies in the office." In her practice, Dr. Chun emphasizes that every decision should be made thoughtfully and deliberately. "Preparation is key," says Dr. Chun. "It's a privilege to be a pediatric surgeon and I believe is one of the best jobs in the world."
