Lin specializes in minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He most recently worked in private practice in Houston, Texas, where he was ranked in the 99th percentile in patient satisfaction by the Press Gainey Patient Satisfaction Survey for three consecutive years and was listed as a "Texas Super Doctor: Rising Star" by Texas Monthly magazine in 2012 and 2013.
