James Lopes, MD, FACS, is a member of Summit Health’s Bariatric (weight loss) and General Surgery teams. Dr. Lopes treats a broad spectrum of conditions, including gallbladder disease, hernias, heartburn, diverticulosis and cancers (stomach, small intestine, colon). As a bariatric surgeon, he treats obesity and gives patients the ability to regain their lives by helping them lose weight and become healthier. His program focuses on developing a full weight loss program, utilizes small incision surgery to minimize postoperative pain, and utilizes a comprehensive bariatric team approach for optimal results. “Maintaining a practice with so much variety keeps my skills sharp and makes me a better surgeon.
