"Begum Akay MD is a board-certified and fellowship trained pediatric general and thoracic surgeon with additional training and certification in surgical critical care. She joined the department of Pediatric Surgery at Beaumont Children’s in 2013. She attended Purdue University for her biomedical engineering degree and Indiana School of Medicine for her medical degree. Her clinical interests include a wide range of pediatric general and thoracic surgery for children of all ages and sizes. Some specific special interests include neonatal surgery Hirschsprung’s disease minimally invasive surgery and surgical quality improvement. She is committed to communication between patients families and colleagues."
