Steven Johnson, MD, FACS, serves as chair of the department surgery at MedStar Good Samaritan and MedStar Union Memorial Hospitals. He leads initiatives to optimize general surgery and plan of care practices and performs open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries. Dr Johnson is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College. He completed his internship and residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and fellowship training at the University of Maryland's R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, focused on trauma and surgical critical care.
