Dirk C. Johnson, MD, is a board-certified surgeon specializing in general surgery, trauma, and critical surgical care. His interests include acute care surgery, mechanical ventilation, and health care delivery systems. He has published multiple book chapters and articles on bowel obstructions, bariatric surgery complications, and trauma. Dr. Johnson is the medical director of the surgical intensive care unit and surgical services at Yale New Haven Hospital’s St. Raphael’s Campus. He manages daily ambulatory functions and patient care before and after surgery. He is an associate professor of surgery (trauma) at Yale School of Medicine and received his medical degree from Yale.
