Surgical Association of Mobile PA, SAMPA, in practice since 1973, is the largest privately owned general and bariatric surgery practice in Mobile Alabama. SAMPA surgeons have performed an average of 4978 procedures per year, including over 8,000 bariatric procedures. In addition to being the largest privately owned surgical practice in the region, SAMPA surgeons were the first to perform a laparoscopic adrenalectomy anywhere in the world and the first laparoscopic colectomy in 1991, the first laparoscopic gastric bypass in the region in 2001, the first robotic surgery in the region in 2013 and much more.
